The Model FLA3 Line Fault Detector from P&R Technologies/EMG detects fault currents, temporary faults, and transient currents in overhead power lines. FLA3 detectors are installed directly on the distribution power line and indicate current faults with six red LED’s at nighttime or a bright orange flag in daytime. Rugged, sealed enclosure. Remote control operations and settings.

FLA-3 Remote Control

FLA3 Fault Indicators
1. Ring of six LEDs indicates line fault
2. Orange flag also indicates line fault (see fully revealed flag in top photo)
3. Single LED indicates remote control readiness and error states

FLA-3 Installation Sequence
The FLA3 mounts directly to any live conductor from 8-28 mm and can be installed by hot stick. A spring loaded clamp firmly attaches the FLA3 to the conductor. The FLA3 is powered by 20A or greater line current. All the electronics, power supply, radio module (which enables communication with a remote control), and battery are housed in a rugged sealed enclosure. Trip current, minimum impulse duration, reset time, and reset mode can be adjusted via remote control without disabling or dismounting the FLA3. The FLA3 can also be tested from the ground with the remote control.
The FLA3 features rugged, hermetically sealed construction and can be easily configured for most installations and applications:
After installation on a live line, the FLA3 continuously measures and evaluates the current. If current exceeds the preset operating value, a short circuit will be indicated. Alternatively, “automatic mode” can be chosen via remote control. In this mode, the trip threshold can be set with the remote control from 1.5X to 5X as high as the service current. The remote control can also be used to:
