LED Lights for Hazardous Locations
.....Used
to mark any obstacle that may present hazards to
aircraft navigation. The PRL-810 LED (Light
Emitting Diode) is used on top of utility poles and
towers up to 150 feet tall and as intermediate lights on
utility towers 151 to 350 feet tall. Towers above
151 feet tall require the PRL-864 flashing red LED
beacons on the top of the tower, with two PRL-810 lights
at intermediate levels on the tower.
The PRL-810 LED steady red
lights realize major savings in maintenance of
obstruction lights. No more replacement of bulbs
every year or less, sending a crew out with equipment,
climbing the pole, replacing the bulb and returning to
town. The PRL-810 LED light is guaranteed for five
years.
The PRL-810 LED lights use
1/10 the power of incandescent lights, and are available
in 12VDC, 120VAC and 240VAC, using only 8-12 watts.
The 12VDC light is used in remote areas where solar
power is the only economical power source. A P&R
solar system with 12VDC LED PRL-810 steady red lights
will initially cost less than 1/4 of the cost of an
incandescent obstruction light installation because the
P&R system uses 1/10 the number of solar panels.

SPECIFICATIONS
Application
Obstruction lights for
marking towers and poles are mandated by the FAA in
locations where helicopters and small planes might run
into wires or towers at night. Obstruction lights save
lives.
Model PRL-81 0 steady red
obstruction lights, to be mounted on utility power
poles, communication towers, water towers, are for poles
and structures up to 1 50 feet in height, or mid level
lighting.
Power Savings
P & R obstruction lights
use 1 /8-1 /20 the power of incandescent bulbs for the
same light intensity. The light elements are LED (light
emitting diodes), so life is much longer than
incandescent lights. LED lights last longer, 10 plus
years or so, and have a five year warranty.
Major Maintenance Cost
Savings
Until recently, most
obstruction lights were incandescent , meaning that the
bulbs burn out every year. Maintenance calls to replace
bulbs on the top of tower are costly in terms of people,
equipment and manpower and are becoming a reoccurring
headache. P & R obstruction lights carry a five year
warranty, and a 10 year plus life expectancy meaning
major savings in maintenance in replacing existing
incandescent obstruction lights.
Meets FAA, ICAO
Intensity Standards
The FAA requires 32.5
candela intensity. P & R lights emit 70 candela of
intensity, gradually decreasing to some 40 candela after
5 years. In the meantime, the major maintenance cost and
power savings mean major cost savings each and every
year.
