Solar Powered Lights

In remote areas, where 110V or 220V is not available or practical, solar systems are often installed to operate obstruction lights.

Previous incandescent systems were large and expensive, requiring many large solar panels. They also required large batteries for daylight charging and nighttime operation. Conversion controls were also needed.

Solar powered LED lights are a simpler and greener solution, saving money and keeping lights off grid. Savings in energy, relamping, and maintenance put LED solar lighting costs at under 10% of incandescent solar lighting.

In fact, LED solar lighting is often preferred in areas with high sun exposure (see map).
