PowerLITE is a major advance in the
need for identifying dangerous power lines and towers at
night. PowerLITE warns pilots of helicopters and light
planes of power lines, thus saving lives and equipment.
PowerLITE greatly reduces the cost of lighting
catenaries, reducing equipment prices from the high
prices of previous spherical lighted markers. PowerLITE
makes lighting of catenaries much more practical. Space
is reduced.
(Pictured PL230 - 500KV Model)
The PowerLITE advanced design
provides a continuous red light of great conspicuity,
meeting and exceeding FAA and ICAO advisories. The
NeoLITE tubes have been proven in service to last 25
years or more, ideal for power line service over rivers
and canyons. No maintenance is required. Installations
costs are reduced with simpler design that has no moving
parts equipment.
APPLICATION
PowerLITE catenary lights save
lives and equipment by warning pilots of helicopters and
light planes of the presence of dangerous power lines
over rivers and canyons, at night. PowerLITE's are self
powered.
PowerLITE catenary lights are
energized by the high voltage power line itself,
utilizing a new FieldCON condenser/ amplifier to sense
the field intensity of the line and amplify the power to
excite the NeoLITE tube, a neon red steady light. The
PowerLITE utilizes little space on the line, occupying
only 40" along the high voltage line.
SIMPLE DESIGN
PowerLITE's are simple in design,
consisting of. The NeoLITE Neon tube: 30" long, 2-1/2"
Diameter The FieldCON amplifier, directly attached to
the NeoLITE tube. No moving parts Standard connectors to
high voltage lines, varying in size with line voltage.
LONG LIFE, LOW MAINTENANCE
Some 25 years ago, a major utility
put up some neon tubes operating off of an arrangement
using line current as a power source. The neon is still
working with no maintenance. It is a fact that neon
signs usually only fail because the transformers fail.
NeoLITE systems do not use transformers. Life expectance
is 25 years.
EASY INSTALLATION
The PowerLITE utilizes the electric
field of the conductor to power the red neon. One end of
the NeoLITE tube connects directly to the high voltage
line. The other end is connected 1) to the high voltage
line through an insulator and 2) to the FieldCON
amplifier. Simple installation.
GREATER CONSPICUITY
PowerLITE's can be seen from a
greater distance because the diameter of the NeoLITE
tube is greater, making the tube more visible.
LOWER COSTS
The simple, more effective
PowerLITE system greatly reduces initial cost of
equipment, reduces installation cost and reduces
maintenance costs. Because the PowerLITE is so simple in
construction, the cost and time for installation is
minimal. The development of the FieldCON amplifier
eliminates the need for many time consuming auxiliary
fasteners and reduces space needed on the line.
FIELDCON AMPLIFIER
The FieldCON amplifier concentrates
the high voltage electrical field of the power line to
very simply generate a higher power, sufficient to turn
on the NeoLITE tube, generating a more highly visible
light for pilots to see.
DIMENSIONS
The PowerLITE system occupies space
34" long, is hung some 24" maximum below the power line.
These figures might vary 2-4" depending upon the
fittings used for different power line voltages.
